This paper compares and contrasts parliamentary systems, specifically Canada, and presidential systems. It also considers the assertion that the executive branch has become too independent of the legislature and too powerful. TI concludes that party discipline and the growth of the Prime Minister's Office have both acted to increase the power of the executive in the Canadian parliamentary system. 10 pgs.
