This paper assesses the proposals for bank mergers in the Canadian financial services sector in 1998 and 1999. Initially, the already intensive concentration of Canadian banking is considered. Then the costs and benefits of the proposed mergers are assessed. 10 pgs. Bibliography lists 13 sources.
