Juliette Gordon Low

Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts of America, the girl’s direct counterpart to the Boy Scouts, and has thus had Juliette Low, daughter of a prominent Southern family, was born in Savannah, Georgia on October 31, 1860. Juliette, nicknamed “Daisy”, was something of an adventurer as a child. She loved animals, developed actively in the arts, struggled with spelling and mathematics, and waited on marriage until she was 26. Her life was one of mingling with the aristocracy of England, of near divorce, widowhood, and, finally, the creation of the Girl Scouts of America. Hers was a significant achievement and a significant life that has helped shape the lives and futures of millions of girls. It is the purpose of this paper to present and examine the course and achievements of the life of Juliette Gordon Low.
