Joe Louis: The Brown Bomber .

This biographical paper considers the life of Joe Louis in a way that relates American history with its chosen heroes. Louis was a hero to many for different reasons: for white people he represented the achievement of an individual. For the African-American class, however, Louis represented something much more, a black man who made it into popular culture, and who found himself playing all sides of race, for different reasons. Importantly, Louis remained personally committed to his own roots and extended unlimited generosity towards the poor and black people of the States. 10 pgs. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
