The 'Handover' of Hong Kong: Whose Interests

This paper focuses on the various groups involved in the 'hand over' of Hong Kong on July 1, 1997. There were three groups of stakeholders involved: the governments in London and Beijing, and the population of Hong Kong both its elite, 'tycoon' leadership and popular forces. This paper identifies each group's interests and objectives, and their success in achieving them in the past decade of extensive political and socio-economic change. 9 pgs.
