This paper describes certain aspects of a history of East Asia. The first topic is an examination of significant historical events that lead to the development of the cold war in East Asia. The second topic is a study of how "social constructions" produce kinds of historical understandings, and how a critical history of East Asia requires an objective grasp of how concepts structure meaning in history. This essay argues that understanding concepts like "imperialism" and "colonialism" are important when attempting to provide an objective historical analysis of East Asia. 9 pgs. No sources.
