A Life in Art: The Artistic Achievement of Benvenuto Cellini.
This paper will examine the artistic achievement of this singular Florentine genius. It will be argued that his literary work deserves inclusion as an artistic piece because of its importance to any understanding of the role of the artist in the Renaissance; a life characterized by insecure funding yet enormous social status. Moreover, the insights of Cellini into his own creative process tells us volumes about the practice of Renaissance art.
