Hegin or "harmonious kinship" as a policy was often used in Chinese diplomatic relations. Han and Sui-Tang dynasties are known for their formation of marriage alliance in foreign conduct. The subject has fascinated many Chinese and Japanese historians, but not much have been written in English. In this paper the marriage principles of Tang period is examined exclusively as a policy of marriage alliance.
