The 'Bank Wars' of the Late 1820s and Early 1830s.

This paper will highlight what the state of the centralist/de-centralist debate was during the volatile 1830s. This will necessitate a focus on the politics and policies of President Andrew Jackson, widely remembered as one of the most controversial presidents of the country. In the final analysis, it will be clear that the decade Jackson coined as the period of the "Bank Wars" established many of the characteristics of the modern banking system in the US. 12 pgs. 22 f/c. 4b.
